Definition of Logistic
According
to Yolanda M. Siagian (2005), logistics is defined as part of the supply chain
process that functions to plan, implement, control effectively, efficiently the
process of procurement, management, storage of goods, services and information
starting from the starting point (point of origin) to point of consumption with
the aim of meeting consumer needs.
Definition of Forwarder
According
to Suyono 2005, Freight Forwarding is a business entity that aims to provide
service or management of all activities needed for the delivery, transportation
and receipt of goods using multimodal transport both by land, sea and air.
According to Ronosentono 2006, p54, Freight Forwarding is a Legal Entity that
executes orders to deliver cargo from one or several owners of goods, collected
from one or several places, to the final destination through a system of
traffic control of goods and documents, using one or several types of
transportation, with or without having the means of transportation in question.
Definition of ALFI
ALFI (Asosiasi Logistik dan Forwarder
Indonesia) / Gafeksi (Gabungan Forwarder dan Ekspedisi
INDONESIA) is an
organization for business people in the field of forwarding, ship and air cargo
expeditions (EMKL & EMKU) The organizational structure is at the central
level called the Central Board of Directors, at the Regional Level (Region I /
Province) called the Regional Management Board, at the Branch Level (Level II /
Regency / Municipality) called the Branch Management Board as well as in
certain regions or centers of transportation, trade and Industry centers called
ALFI / GAFEKSI Special Representatives .

History of ALFI
Beginning
with the birth of GAFEKSI / INFA (Joint Indonesian Forwarders and Expedition
Association) on July 25, 1989 as the only association that developed the FF
service industry and Customs in Indonesia.
INFA is a combination of three previous associations,
namely:
· GAVEKSI is an association that carries out the work of sea
transportation and customs services in ports, including controlling government
warehousing.
· INFFA is the FF Association and Customs Services which is
licensed by the Ministry of Commerce and the Customs Office, which is also a
member of FIATA
· AEMPU is an association that carries out air transport
services and customs services, gets a license from the Directorate General of
Civil Aviation and the Customs Office, and becomes a member of FIATA.
At the Extraordinary National Conference in Denpasar, Bali
in 2010, agreed to change the association name to ALFI / ILFA (Association of
Logistics and Indonesian Forwarders / Indonesian Logistics & Forwarders
Association).
As a Professional
Organization, ALFI / GAFECTION Business objectives, roles and functions
prioritize efforts:

Collecting, fostering and developing the
business of its members to be able to participate more in improving the welfare
of the nation and state of Indonesia.

Protect members' interests and prevent
unhealthy competition in the world of transportation services.
·
Protect the interests of the
transportation service industry by upholding ethics and professionalism /
expertise of the members in anticipating developments that will occur both
nationally and internationally.

Increase and knowledge of members in the
field of transportation services in line with technological advances in various
fields.
·
Disseminate the function and role of
transportation and expedition services as an economic means in realizing the
management system of shipping and managing goods quickly, safely and economically,
in the broadest sense.

Helping members to develop and improve
the power of their business, by perfecting governance, organization and
administration in the context of modernizing transportation, land, sea and air
services and in an integrated manner.

comprising 10 Southest Asian states which promotes freight forwarding throught
intergovermental cooperation and facilitates cargo.
